This unique work is simultaneously painting, sculpture, metaphorical hearth, door, and source of light and animation in a New York apartment. Its radiance transforms as lighting conditions change and one moves about the space. A refined phosphorescent powder glows cerulean blue in dim light. Hidden LEDs illuminate the door and “feed” the phosphor. Integrated mirrors and iridescent material further enhance reflections and responses to light sources.
New York Magazine, February 2007. “Space Shifters.”
