The Battery Bosque Kiosks
New York, NY | 2005
The lighting of the slatted wood kiosks in the Battery Bosque was a key component of the overall strategy to create an enchanted nighttime experience of the Bosque. Nestled among a grove of 140 mature London plane trees, the Bosque features 34,000 perennial plants and 70,000 bulbs, 1,500 linear feet of serpentine benches, a 60-foot wide spiral fountain and two distinctively designed food kiosks. The slatted wood kiosks are lit like lanterns in the landscape, a strategy that helps to reduce the number of luminaires needed while providing a shielded, soft focal glow.
