Waterloo Park

Austin, TX | 2021 | 11 acres

Waterloo Park is a key component of Austin’s mile-and-a-half-long Waterloo Greenway. The design straddles the ambitious programmatic goals of an urban park system and the imperative to re-imagine Waller Creek as an urban ecological corridor. The park provides an immersive experience of nature while also improving water resources, building an urban tree canopy and creating resilient niches for wildlife. The lighting programme complements the design by using carefully aimed and shielded fixtures to minimize light pollution and spillover. “Firefly bollards,” designed by Linnaea Tillett, add a bit of enchantment to the more intimate garden rooms within the park.
